The Tigers athletic department is calling on fans to attempt to break the current crowd noise record of 137.5 decibels on the first defensive snap of the night in the team’s clash with the Florida State on Saturday. The Kansas City Chiefs currently hold the record at Arrowhead Stadium. FYI At 140 decibels, even short term exposure can cause permanent damage. This is the loudest recommended exposure if you have hearing protection, that’s like standing next to a jet engine! We’re so smart we looked it up.

“I was on the nine-year plan as an undergrad and law student there,” Patterson said with a laugh. “I think I’ve done my time.”
“I loved it,” Patterson said of Austin, “but I love what I’m doing here.”
Neither is an explicit statement denying interest in the Texas job, well played Mr. Patterson. He may very well stay at Arizona State, but the language he uses could rival any politician!

COLLEGE OF THE HOLY CROSS
A former player for the Holy Cross women’s basketball team has sued the college and her former coach. Ashley Cooper, who’s no longer at the school, alleges, Head Basketball Bill Gibbons shook her and other players by the shoulders and struck them during practices and games. The lawsuit alleges university officials knew of the abuse but did not stop it.

Shaun Richard has been named associate athletics director for sport administration. Prior to Ohio State, Richard was named the assistant athletics director at Colgate University. He was promoted to the position of associate athletics director and has served as the school’s associate director of external operations since July 12, 2012. Richard also spent time with the Miami Dolphins operations department.

Jonathan Gantt has been named Director of New Media for Clemson Athletics. Gantt comes to Clemson following a three-year stint with the Tampa Bay Rays, where he served most recently as Senior Communications Coordinator.

It pays to win. Fresno State football is off to a 5-0 start, and the great and powerful Oz has taken notice, excuse us, we mean ESPN. ESPN selected Fresno’s game October 26th vs San Diego Sate to be on ESPN2. Fresno will get a cool $500,000 on the deal.

Former San Diego State women’s basketball coach Beth Burns has filed a wrongful termination claim with the California State University system, calling it an “unlawful decision to fire one of its leaders in women’s athletics without any legitimate cause.”
Burns, 55, retired without explanation in April after 16 years at SDSU, but her claim says she was given the option of resignation, termination or retirement in a meeting earlier that day with Athletic Director Jim Sterk.

Iowa will pay $300,000 to settle a lawsuit brought by a former member of the women’s rowing team who says the team’s intense training workouts and lax oversight left her with debilitating leg injuries. Margaret Krusing alleged in her lawsuit that former coach Mandi Kowal’s excessive training regimen left her with chronic exertional syndrome, which made it hard to walk and has required numerous surgeries.
