AD Scoop has learned Iowa Basketball is seeing record profits under Fran McCaffery. The program generated $3,115,004 in ticket revenue last season with an Average paid attendance at 13,625, the highest since 2001-02. In 2009-10, the year before McCaffery arrived, ticket revenue was $1,909,570.

AD Scoop has learned that JMU is looking at the prospect of moving to the Football Bowl Subdivision. Sources believe for this to be feasible, alumni donations need to triple. Currently JMU student fees cover 80% of JMU’s operating budget, and only 7% of Alumni give to athletics! Looking to make a name for yourself? AD Scoop has learned Boston College is looking for a Senior Associate Director, Athletics Annual Fund, responsible for all functions associated with the athletics annual fund with an emphasis on growing unrestricted support for the department which is currently about $6M annually.

AD Scoop has learned Oregon State has hired Kyle Pifer as Senior Associate Athletic Director for Compliance, Pifer was at the University of Washington, where he also served as the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance.

UA is hiring for a Director of Ticket Sales to develop and implement ticket sales strategies and best practices for individuals and businesses that are targeted prospects.

Penn State has made three new hires. Troy Fisher was hired as Director of Human Resources. Jeff Garner was hired as Assistant Athletic Director for Ticketing Sales and Services. Garner spent the past 13 years working in Minor League and Major League Baseball. Lastly Mark Wharton was hired as Assistant Athletic Director for the Nittany Lion Club. He most recently serving as the Executive Director/Assistant Athletic Director of the East Carolina Pirate Club.

The LSU Board of Supervisors announced today that a proposal to raise prices on football and baseball tickets and parking has been removed from the agenda for its meeting on Friday October 25th. Instead, sources say Athletic Director, Joe Alleva will pitch the board of supervisors on why it should increase prices. Read More.

The AD Scoop is reporting that John McElwain was promoted from Associate Commissioner/Communications to Associate Commissioner of Communications & Brand Strategy. Word on the street is the Sun Belt will be hiring for a new position soon, as McElwain’s duties now shift to brand strategy.

AD Scoop has learned UMASS is looking for an Athletics Finance Manager, responsible for the general management of multiple accounts totaling over $3 million annually.
EASTERN NEW MEXICO UNIVERSITY
Eastern New Mexico University has asked for, and expects, severe punishments for more than 100 self-reported eligibility violations that span nearly every sport the Division-II school offers. Athletic Director Jeff Geiser, “Hopefully they accept our self-imposed penalties,” We don’t want to accept any postseason bans or scholarship losses. We’re not a rich school as it is.”

The Kellogg Community College, in Battle Creek, MI has canceled the remainder of its women’s soccer season, citing a rash of season-ending injuries that have left the Lady Bruins short-handed.
