UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS

ADUniversity of Texas System regents made it official today: Steve Patterson is the new men’s athletic director at Texas.

 
UNIVERSITY OF BUFFALO

A University at Buffalo alumnus Robert Morris and his wife have given a $400,000 donation toward UB athletics capital projects. Morris also pledged an additional $200,000 if another $400,000 or more gift is secured by the fund.

 
UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS

Illinois football has lost 19 straight league games, the second-longest in Big Ten history. Director of Athletics, Mike Thomas has not taken an official position on head football coach Tim Beckman’s future. The 48-year-old coach has three full seasons left on the five-year, $9 million contract he signed when he was hired.

 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE

The American Athletic Conference is looking for an Executive Director – Miami Beach Bowl. The Miami Beach Bowl is college football’s newest bowl game to be held annually in Marlins Park beginning in December 2014.

Director of Athletics, Phil Dane is retiring Dec. 31. The school is looking for a Director of Intercollegiate Athletics. As a direct report to the Chancellor, the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics has overall responsibility to provide positive leadership to plan, organize, and manage the programs and activities of Intercollegiate Athletics.

 
UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL FLORIDA

UCF is looking for an Associate Director, Athletics Development, Responsible for developing, coordinating and executing comprehensive solicitation strategies, including the identification, cultivation, personal solicitation and stewardship of new prospects capable of making gifts of $50,000 or more to UCF Athletics Association, Golden Knight Club and the UCF Foundation.

Emporia is looking for Director of Athletic Marketing responsible for creating, selling, and implementing all marketing and promotions programs for Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. Duties include sale of all advertising (i.e. venue signage, game programs, game sponsorships) and season and single game ticket packages.

EASTERN MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY

Ron English has been fired as Eastern Michigan’s head football coach effective immediately. Athletic Director Heather Lyke, who was hired on July 1 said that the fact that English was in the final year of his contract added “a bit more steam” to the evaluation process of his program. English had compiled a record of 11-46 in the past five seasons.

 
UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH FLORIDA

Jim Louk, long time voice of the USF Bulls is now the Associate Director of Athletics/Broadcast & Communications. For 29 years, Jim Louk has been the voice of USF Athletics. Louk came to USF in 1983 as the radio play-by-play announcer for the USF men’s basketball team.

 
SOUTH CAROLINA STATE UNIVERSITY

assistant sports information director, Kendrick D. Lewis, has been named interim director of sports information. Lewis, 38, enters his sixth year with the department and eighth overall at S.C. State.
 
TEMPLE UNIVERSITY

Cecilia Snipes has be hired as the assistant director of equipment and event management. Snipes joins the Owls after seven years at Arizona State where she served as the equipment operations coordinator
 
VANDERBILT UNIVERSITY

Vanderbilt University opened the doors of their brand new indoor athletic facility. The facility is part of a $31 million project that began last September. The building features a full football field surrounded by a six-lane, 300-meter track.There is also a LED display board, 35 speakers, a training room and second-floor viewing area.
