The Brooklyn College Office of Recreation, Intramurals & Intercollegiate Athletics has announced the hiring of Andy Mueller as Head Coach of the Women’s Volleyball program effective immediately. Mueller comes to BC from NCAA Division I Fordham University, where he served as an assistant coach for the 2014 season. Prior to Fordham, Mueller spent two seasons (2012 & 2013) at another NCAA Division I institution, Columbia University, where he was in charge of the middle blockers and right side players. Under Mueller’s tutelage, middle blocker Heather Braunagel earned First Team All-Ivy honors in 2012.


Marquette University seeks Assistant Athletics Director, Business Operations. This position will provide direct oversight and management of the department’s financial resources. Individual will serve as the day-to-day contact with the sport programs and administrative units and manage all matters in regards to accounting, finance, budget, travel and payroll. Sources tell College AD, College of Charleston will become the first public school in South Carolina to serve beer at an athletic facility, starting May 8th, 2015. Beer will be sold at Patriots Point for remaining baseball games, including the CAA conference tournament.


The University of Cincinnati (UC) athletic director, Mike Bohn, and coach, Tommy Tuberville, unveiled the newly renovated Nippert Stadium on April 23 to the media. The stadium’s USD$86m renovation and expansion will increase seating from 35,000 to 40,000. It contains four levels — a press and operations suite with seating for 100 reporters, a suite level, patio suites level and scholarship club seats level. Athletic director Gary Gray said budget cuts are coming for the University of Alaska Fairbanks athletic department. He doesn’t know to what extent, though. Gray said that at some time in May he expects to know the extent of the budget reduction to the UAF athletic department. Gray also said Tuesday the university is getting close to deciding on a new head volleyball coach and a combined head coach for running and skiing. – Danny Martin, News Miner. Read More.


Western Michigan University made an investment in head coach P.J. Fleck when they gave him a new six-year contract in December of 2014, making him the highest-paid coach in the Mid-American Conference. The success from the 2014 football season is not only helping the university, but also the WMU athletic department as a whole. 2015 football season ticket package numbers are up over 500 from 2014. Ticket packages are an average of $180, meaning WMU ticket revenues are already up approximately $90,000 from a year ago. Kent State’s latest round of athletic jurisprudence comes under the heading of win some, lose some. They now owe former assistant football coach Jim Fleming money. Last year, KSU won its case against former basketball coach Geno Ford. The Ohio Court of Claims first ruled in Kent’s favor, but it was overturned after Fleming appealed and he has been awarded $112,000. UTSA Director of Athletics Lynn Hickey announced Monday that Greg Sheen has been hired as head soccer coach. Sheen, who becomes just the second coach in program history, was named interim coach on April 2, 2014. A former Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Coach of the Year, Sheen will enter his third season with the program after he spent the 2014 season as interim head coach and the 2013 campaign as an assistant. Last season as interim head coach, Sheen led the Roadrunners to a 6-10-2 record, which was an improvement from the team’s 2013 mark.

Ole Miss will begin a search for a new women’s golf head coach, as Michele Drinkard will not return as the Rebel’s head coach, as announced by Ole Miss athletics director, Ross Bjork on Friday. In eight seasons as head coach, Drinkard led the Rebels to five NCAA appearances although the last berth came during the 2013 season. Drinkard’s Rebels performed well in the classroom and received the Chancellors Cup several times during her tenure and she has coached 11 players to Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Scholar All-America honors. – Mississippi TV, Read More.

Bob Bowman, one of the most accomplished coaches in the sport, is bringing his acclaimed resume and skilled instruction onto the Sun Devil campus. Michelle Blaeser will leave her positions as St. Cloud State’s head volleyball coach and member of the kinesiology department at the end of the academic year. Blaeser has been the St. Cloud State coach since 2010 and has served as an associate professor in the kinesiology department. The Huskies were 51-75 with Blaeser as the coach. Blaeser was placed on paid leave Oct. 1 while the university conducted an internal program review. East Carolina says softball coach Beth Keylon-Randolph will not return to the school. The move, which is effective immediately, was announced Friday by athletic director Jeff Compher. Keylon-Randolph took a leave of absence Jan. 15 for personal reasons. She was 49-51 in two seasons. University of Indianapolis (UIndy) has revealed Kinkead’s replacement. Beginning June 1st, former Drury University student-athlete and assistant coach Jason Hite will be the new UIndy swimming and diving head coach. Hite was the head coach at various high schools in the Springfield, Missouri area before arriving at Drury University where has spent the last three years. At DU, Hite helped the Panthers win four NCAA Division II national championships, handling recruiting and various operational responsibilities.- SwimSwam, Read More.

Sources tell College AD, Nick Popplewell, Asst. AD, Marketing & Branding at the University of Wyoming has accepted the same position at Colorado State. He has held his current position since July 2012. In this role, Popplewell oversees all of the marketing and branding efforts for University of Wyoming Athletics. Nick is married to Chelsea Popplewell, UW’s diving coach. We are told she will remain at Wyoming for the time being.
