Eric Sexton will step down as Athletic Director for Wichita State University as part of a compromise reached through University President John Bardo and Student Government Association President Joseph Shepard, university officials confirmed Wednesday. Students were planning a protest against President Bardo that was supposed to be held today, but later cancelled it saying that a private meeting was held with Bardo to address student concerns.
Wednesday Morning, Shepard posted on his Facebook page saying 5 compromises were made:
- Sexton will not serve in dual positions; Sexton will step down as Athletic Director of WSU by the end of the Fall Semester
- Bardo will issue responses from the administration and finance department students had been waiting 48 days for
- A letter will be sent out to apologize to those attacked verbally in regards to the interfaith prayer space
- The university will look for ways to hire more minority staff
- Bardo will continue to look for ways to increase instate scholarship for students
Eric Sexton was removed as the Student Government Association adviser earlier in the month. He’s currently the Vice President of Student Affairs and the Executive Director of Athletics. University officials tells us Sexton will step down in the near future, but don’t have an exact date. -Hali Rowland, KWCH, Read More
