The University of Wisconsin’s Finance, Facilities and Operations Committee on Tuesday approved a budget for the athletic department of $99,142,200 for the 2014-’15 academic year.

The current 2013-’14 athletic department budget resides at $127,571,000.

The 2014-’15 budget includes projected revenue of $99,252,500 and projected expenses of $99,142,200 for a net margin of $110,300.

The reason for this reduction is due to a difference in capital campaign expenses between academic years. With the construction of the $76.8 million Student-Athlete Performance Center, the current budget includes $33,750,000 for capital expenses. However, now that the Student-Athlete performance center is complete, next year’s budget can be reduced. The proposed 2014-’15 budget only includes capital expenses of $3.8 million, most of which will be used to renovate the UW Golf course.
