College AD has learned that Winthrop University hopes to have its new athletic director in place by July 1. Longtime Winthrop AD Tom Hickman will retire effective June 30. Sources also tell College AD that Winthrop President Dr. Daniel Mahony has assembled a 15 person search committee that will assist in the search process. The search committee will be composed of students, facility, staff, coaches, alumni and local community leaders. In addition to the search committee, Todd Turner,  president of Collegiate Sports Associates will aid the Eagles in their search. You can read President Mahony’s internal email here.
