Top Winona State University officials in recent years were informed that former men’s basketball coach Mike Leaf had alcohol-related problems but failed to take action, two former players allege. Their comments come in the wake of Friday’s news reports that a player alleges Leaf had made unwanted sexual advances toward a player while intoxicated on June 20. Leaf resigned on June 30, but no reason was given at the time. WSU has confirmed a complaint about Leaf has been received and an investigation is underway.
