You gotta protect the brand
.@JeremyDarlow thanks for reminder that over-segmentation is unnecessary. Define your story. Tell your story. Period. #sportsbiz @collegead

Jeremy Darlow’s latest idea isn’t revolutionary, but it is a great reminder that your teams will go farther together. There is no reason fans should identify with only one sport, and barely recognize the message surrounding the others. Your brand should be your brand. Well, as long as you lock down your trademarks.
The trademark game = mad shady. https://t.co/q7Q1d3LdlB

Yeah, I would also define that as mad shady. All of you brand managers are on notice. Keep your head on a swivel.
Maybe he just really needs a punter
Harbaugh you dog https://t.co/OWciVjA5ko

As odd as it seems, and I can’t believe I’m agreeing with Jim Harbaugh here, Australia does seem the next great bastion of American Football. While plenty of punters have slowly found there way into the US from down under, more and more “every down” guys are cropping up. The most notable being former rugby star and current 49er running back Jarryd Hayne.
“But, why does Michigan feel the need to host a camp an entire camp there?” We all know the reason for that.

It’s about getting eyeballs, not just from Australian talent and potential fans, but from recruits here in the good ole US of A. Chances are good that, like basketball, the number of kids coming from overseas to play in America will rise in coming years. Since when has Harbaugh been one to wait for everyone else to catch up?
Never give up, never surrender
Is the @NCAA unwilling or unable to #StopTheMadness w/ recruiting. Are they giving up? https://t.co/LcnXevl5vq
— Greg Marsden (@UtahMarz) May 12, 2016
It sure does look like they are giving up. You may say, “it’s just text messaging.” And it is. But the precedent here, that once something becomes so rampant and unenforceable it should just be ignored all together, is a dangerous one.
I’m not saying some regulations shouldn’t be loosened, or even tossed out all together, but what about things like time constraints.

I’ve had multiple people tweet or write in their concerns about the amount of time athletes are expected to put in. What happens when the NCAA decides that limits on time are “too difficult to enforce?”
It’s not just coaches, like the aforementioned Harbaugh, who are pushing the limits. College sports is a business. Many people’s jobs hinge on wins and losses. Pushing athletes to and past the limits of what is allowable is to be expected.
Let’s just be careful what limits we tear down.
He’s on tour
The @oasis producer? Sweet! @tgagemurphy https://t.co/8Pu7sS1TfZ

Some people may complain that Mark Coyle only spent a year in Syracuse before moving one, but you can’t be mad at him for taking a great job. Have faith in the people making decisions ‘Cuse fans. Even though he left early, Syracuse made a great hire. Anyone who was able to get the Gallagher brothers sober and in a room long enough to produce an album has to be a master manager.
