Hello, there. Welcome once again to The Weekly Audible, now with embedded tweets. Look, like many of you, we’re still trying to figure out this whole social media thing. Should we focus on Facebook or Twitter? Does Pinterest still matter? What’s a Snapchat?
All problems for another day, because on this day we are solving your problems. Well, maybe not solving, but we can at least talk about them.
As always, this article and our entire site for that matter, are entirely dependent upon you. Have something you would like to say? Let us know on Twitter at @CollegeAD. Need more than 140 characters? Then hit the “Contact AD” button below.
Now, back to our social media issues, let’s pretend this is a Petrino press conference and make some apologies.
Sorry ’bout that.
@collegead Incorrect college. We do not offer collegiate swimming
— Barton Sports (@BartonSports) February 18, 2016
The original tweet has been deleted to cover our tracks not confuse anyone further, but we do want to offer our sincere apologies to the good people of Barton Community College for the mix up. Like most cats, the Barton Cougars don’t do the whole swimming thing, but they do have excellent softball and track programs. So once again, sorry.
Laissez le compressions budgétaires rouler
Louisiana has produced a number of wonderful things, including this little news outlet. One thing this state has been lacking; leaders.
Louisiana budget deficit drastically affecting 5 #SouthlandConference schools https://t.co/V2JKeQzb3l

It’s still too early to know if the latest batch of elected officials in this state will be able to right the ship, but their efforts seemed to have gotten our attention. Sure, it was effective to threaten the existence of the biggest football program in this state, but let’s not lose sight of the bigger picture. There are quite a few public universities and athletic programs in Louisiana that, frankly, may not survive this battle. LSU can pay it’s way back. Some Southland teams may not.
Speaking of money problems

It is jarring to see that a Big 12 team like TCU can spend that kind of money on football and still not support a softball program. Especially when the sport’s natural counterpart, baseball, thrives in Fort Worth. But rest assured, TCU knows what it’s doing. Money invested in football, however ridiculous it might seem, tends to pay back dividends. And those dividends are what’s used to support non-revenue sports like softball.
Don’t read too much into it
Interesting.. and these guys typically know what's going on before it's big news. https://t.co/ly49pe3ViN

As much as we would love to have the inside scoop on this, everything we know is in that article. But trust us, when we do uncover a little more, you’ll be the first ones to know.
How about a baseball game in a football stadium
Very proud of all who worked extremely hard to make this game a reality I believe in NIU & our fan base to represent https://t.co/s2pV5kmwM1

Not trying to bag on NIU. This is a cool idea, and an example of the kind of outside the box thinking that can get your program more exposure. I just can’t imagine the sight lines will be very good.
And anyway, today isn’t about football in baseball stadiums. Today is opening day for baseball in baseball stadiums. Warm up the peanuts and Cracker Jacks. The road to Omaha starts today.
