In a little over two years as Virginia Tech’s athletic director, Whit Babcock has kept busy. Under his watch, Tech has replaced head coaches in football, men’s basketball, and women’s basketball; launched the Hokies’ version of athlete welfare reform; and just recently has retooled the athletic department’s donation process. That last one, announced close to three weeks ago, has drawn strong feedback, although Babcock says it has gone better than anticipated. “You don’t take it lightly, but we were prepared for it,” Babcock said. “We knew anytime there’s change or evolution of things, some people are not going to love it right off the bat.
