The Trojans have hired longtime Loyola Marymount head coach Jason Gill to be their new skipper, USC athletic director Lynn Swann announced in a statement Friday. In the announcement, Swann made clear he expects Gill to return the most decorated program in college baseball history back to its place of historical relevance. “Our desire was to get someone who can elevate USC baseball back into the postseason and help the team once again compete for a College World Series title,” Swann stated. Gill spent 11 years at LMU, leading the Lions to a 322-286-1 record. This past year, LMU went 34-25 and reached the finals of the College World Series’ Los Angeles regional bracket before losing to top-ranked UCLA. -Adam Grosbard, sgvtribune. Read More.
