On Monday, the University of Scranton announced Martin will be the next director of athletics, succeeding Toby Lovecchio, who served in that capacity since 1997. Lovecchio will remain within the department as an associate director. While at Misericordia, Martin promoted athletics, fostered strong academic-athletic relations and expanded the athletic program to include football, women’s golf and men’s tennis, bringing its intercollegiate sport count to 24. “His accomplishments speak for themselves, and we are excited that he will bring his experience and leadership to the team at Scranton, as we strive to serve, care for and develop our student-athletes in accordance with our mission as a Catholic and Jesuit university.” the Rev.
