An athletic program that prides itself on putting all its teams in elite facilities has only one true black eye in that area, and everyone around campus can see that. Tennessee needs a better baseball facility. Lindsey Nelson Stadium pales in comparison to practically all of its peers in the baseball-mad SEC, and Fulmer didn’t deny that new Vols baseball coach Tony Vitello could use some help in that area. Fulmer said he’s planning to spend parts of this summer touring athletics facilities across the country, and the legendary Hall of Fame football coach didn’t deny that upcoming Neyland Stadium renovation plans were the primary purpose of those trips. They won’t be the only version, though. Fulmer said Bill Battle a former Tennessee football coach and Alabama athletic director who has always been one of Fulmer’s mentors told him he would enjoy watching the Vols (and Lady Vols) compete in spring sports.
