In a news conference filled with hope, sorrow and redemption, Damon Evans was introduced Tuesday morning as Maryland’s athletic director. The 48-year-old Evans, who had served the past eight months in an acting role, seemed grateful for the opportunity given him by university president Wallace D. Loh. It came eight years after Evans was forced to resign from the same position at Georgia. Evans replaces Kevin Anderson, who brought Evans to Maryland in 2014 as the department’s chief financial officer.
