Shawn Nelson, who coached the Colorado-Colorado Springs women’s basketball team to its first two NCAA Division II national tournament appearances, was fired earlier this month for violating terms of his contract. University officials declined further comment. Nelson, who was hired May 13, 2014, went 47-17 in two seasons with the Mountain Lions.
