University of Arizona head soccer coach Tony Amato has signed a three-year contract to lead the program through 2021. Amato, who became the program’s all-time winningest coach last season, has posted a 67-40-15 record in six seasons in Tucson with four NCAA Tournament appearances in the last five seasons. “We are excited to have Tony continue leading our outstanding soccer program at the University of Arizona,” said Vice President and Director of Athletics Dave Heeke. “Tony has built and guided a program of excellence on the field, in the classroom and in our community. Arizona Soccer has established itself as a premier program in college soccer with sustained success that has elevated it to national prominence. During the Amato era of Arizona Soccer, the program has ascended to new heights as the Wildcats have posted four seasons of ten or more wins. Arizona had achieved the feat just twice in the 20 seasons prior to Amato’s arrival. With four NCAA Tournament berths, including a Sweet 16 appearance, Arizona has established itself as a postseason regular under Amato’s leadership.
