Jean Berger will serve as interim athletic director at the University of Northern Iowa, according to a press release issued Friday by the university’s athletic media relations department. Berger, who has been a deputy athletic director at UNI, replaces Troy Dannen. Dannen is leaving UNI to become the athletics director at Tulane University in New Orleans. Berger joined UNI in 2008 as senior associate athletic director and senior woman administrator. She was promoted to deputy athletic director in July 2015. At UNI, Berger is the direct supervisor of five UNI women’s sports — basketball, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball.
