Kevin Buisman will not be the next director of athletics at the University of Northern Iowa. One of three finalists for the position, Buisman announced Tuesday morning that he has withdrawn his name from consideration. UNI had narrowed its group of finalists to Buisman, outgoing Montana State director of athletics Peter Fields and Iowa State senior associate athletic director David Harris. The Panthers will introduce their new AD at a 2 p.m. news conference Wednesday. Buisman is a Marion native who began his career in athletic administration at UNI, serving in several capacities from 1989 through 2002 when he took over as MSU-Mankato’s director of athletics. The Mavericks have prospered competitively under Buisman’s leadership and he’s been honored nationally for his work in the NCAA Division II program. -Doug Newhoff, Panther Mania, Read More
