After a national search, the University of North Carolina Wilmington announced Derek Denton as its new executive director of athletics. Denton will begin serving the UNCW Student Aid Association, dubbed the Seahawk Club, on Aug. 22. He will be responsible for managing all Seahawk Club fundraising activities, overseeing daily operations and directing donor recognition and stewardship programs. Before joining UNCW, Denton served as the assistant director of development for the Louisiana State University Tiger Athletic Foundation.
