The University of Cincinnati’s board chair on Tuesday said university officials, alumni and stakeholders in its athletic program have discussed the idea of moving men’s basketball games to U.S. Bank Arena downtown, and the consensus is to keep the program on campus. “Clearly, a tremendous amount of work has been done,” UC board chairman Thomas Humes said on the plans to renovate the on-campus Fifth Third Arena. Hume’s statement is a blow to hopes of U.S. Bank Arena co-owners Nederlander Entertainment and AEG Facilities that UC would be a main tenant for a renovated downtown arena. Humes’ remarks came as UC trustees heard a presentation on the arena and a pledge from Athletic Director Mike Bohn to raise $40 million to make the $85 million renovation happen. -Chris Wetterich, Cincinnati Business Courier, Read More
