The Murchie Family Fieldhouse, on UB’s North Campus, is almost complete with the recent installation of the artificial turf. Construction began on the $18 million facility back in the fall of 2017. It’s expected to be done this April. 92,000 sq. ft. building includes two towers so coaches can get an overhead look at what’s happening below. There’s a 100-yard field for the football team to practice on, and soccer athletes to use. There’s a sprint track and long jump pit as well. Dividers will be added, so three different groups will be able to practice at once. Batting cages will also be included. The ceiling is about 65-feet high, so kickers will be able to practice field goals. Punters may hit the rafters once in awhile, but they will practice there as well. No state dollars were used to build the facility. It was paid for by donors and football conference revenue. -Kelsey Anderson, WIVB, Read More
