University of Alabama’s is known for its excellence on the football field. Now students from the school’s College of Engineering are helping injured players on the sideline. Jeff Allen, Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Medicine at the UA, contacted Chuck Karr, the Dean of the College of Engineering in May about a project that would make it easier treat injured players away from the public. A team of mechanical engineering students made a portable tent that can be extended or dropped down in seconds. They made a portable tent for the medical staff that can be raised or lowered in a matter of seconds to give the Tide’s medical staff some privacy as they treat injured players.
