On August 11th, internal sources indicated to College AD that 3 Left Standing In The University Of Akron Athletic Director position. University of Akron President Scott L. Scarborough announced on August 18 that Larry Williams has been named the Zips’ Director of Athletics, effective Sept. 1, pending approval by the University’s Board of Trustees. Williams brings a diverse athletics background and proven track record with him to Akron. Williams will be introduced to the campus and community during a news conference on Tuesday, August 25, at 9:30 a.m. at InfoCision Stadium. Williams comes to the University from Equity Management, Inc., where he led the nation’s largest corporate licensing program, increasing marketing, royalties, and branding. Williams has served on the NCAA Championships and Sports Sponsorship Cabinet and the NCAA Men’s Basketball Issues Committee, and previously chaired the West Coast Conference Athletic Directors Council.
