UConn and IMG announced a 15-year agreement Wednesday that guarantees the Huskies athletic department at least $93 million. The contract extension, which follows the previous 10-year deal, guarantees IMG the sole rights to UConn multimedia and the licensing agent of Huskies athletics. The deal, however, is very different from the previous one. The deal isn’t unusual in college sports, but it is a lot of money, so let’s take a look at what this means for the university. IMG was originally known as International Management Group, but now just goes by the initials. It’s a sports and talent management company that started nearly 60 years ago. The company has plenty of A-list sports figures as clients, but started with golfers Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus, turning them into stars off the course through endorsement deals. IMG has the rights to air UConn games on radio, in addition to any coaches shows, pre- and post-game shows, and any other UConn radio shows for the football and basketball teams.   – Dan Brechlin, courant – Read More
