After poring over Tulane’s profile and investigating its pros and cons, Troy Dannen simply couldn’t pinpoint an unmovable obstacle to achievement. “From my first contact with the school to my first interview, it was about four weeks, and those four weeks were spent trying to figure out why I didn’t want the job,” said Dannen, who took over the post Dec. 2. “I wanted to know it couldn’t be done, because it hadn’t been done. But every time I turned something new over, I found reasons why it could be done. I realized why people spoke so highly about so much of Tulane and by the time I interviewed, I completely realized how special this place could be.” To unlock the potential, however, he knew it would require sweeping changes … and time was of the essence. Over the next six months Dannen transformed from skeptic to salesmen, performing the fastest documented overhaul in the school’s 123-year athletic history. -Scott Kushner, The Advocate, Read More
