Gerry Matthews, who won a state-record 612 games over his 30-year career at Stockton University, has decided to retire. Matthews said that, with his 75th birthday approaching soon, he believed the timing was right to step aside from the job he loves. He had hip replacement surgery in April, one of his knees replaced in June and another knee replacement surgery scheduled for next week. Matthews is leaving on top.
