Shaw University announced Friday that it will bring back former head coach Joel Hopkins to once again lead the men’s basketball program. Hopkins led the Bears from 2000 to 2002, compiling a 43-15 record and leading the team to the 2002 men’s basketball CIAA Tournament Championship. Hopkins graduated from North Carolina Central University, where he was a member of the 1989 NCAA Division II title squad. Hopkins will be introduced on Tuesday at an 11 a.m. news conference.
