When Patrick Hobbs began his new job as Rutgers athletic director on Monday, he became one of the university’s highest-paid employees, but his pay is far below two of the school’s coaches and many of its medical school professors. Hobbs agreed to a five-year contract worth $560,000 per year, $110,000 more than his predecessor’s base salary.
