OHIO UNIVERSITY

In August, Julie Cromer was named the new director of athletics at Ohio University, becoming the first woman to hold that position. “I am really encouraged by the number women that I see seeking opportunities in football and are willing to go into that space,” she said. “Once they are there, a lot of times, they are able to thrive because at the end of the day, it’s often about results. In an environment where everyone wants to win, you’re looking for an edge, you’re looking for the best talent. For those women who prepare themselves and are ready to embrace that challenge, I think once they are in that space, they can find that it may not be as difficult or as intimidating as they had imagined from the outside looking in.” Cromer serves on the NCAA Division I Board of Directors and is a member of the Board of Directors of Women Leaders in College Sports. In her new role, Cromer said that she hopes to provide the best possible experience for students on campus as they prepare for life after college. – Sarah Wood, Diverse Education, Read More
