UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA

No. 4 Virginia will play VCU for the 15th time ever on Sunday. The Rams’ athletic director would like to see that number continue to grow. “I think we’d both like to play again,” VCU AD Ed McLaughlin said this week. “I think it makes a lot of sense for the state. I think it makes a lot of sense for both our programs.” McLaughlin, whose VCU team is coming off a road win over Texas and former coach Shaka Smart on Wednesday, said the two schools have been in contact about scheduling a new series. It won’t happen next season but, he hopes, will end up on a future schedule relatively soon. He said both teams benefit from having the other on the schedule. – Mike Barber,Richmond Times-Dispatch.
