UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA

North Carolina has agreed to a one-year contract extension with football coach Mack Brown that will run through the 2024 season, the school announced in a press release Saturday night. The terms of Brown’s contract will remain the same. He’ll continue to make $3.5 million, and is eligible for performance-based bonuses. Brown coached the Tar Heels to a 6-6 regular season in the first year of his second stint as the head coach. “Mack’s return has had an outstanding impact — not just in Kenan Stadium, but throughout the Carolina community,’‘ Cunningham said in a press release. The terms of Brown’s contract do not change. Brown’s base salary is $750,00 per year and he makes $2 million in supplemental compensation. He will continue to make $200,000 from Nike, and will get $50,000 in expenses per year. He is also making $500,000 per year in personal services from multimedia rights holder Learfield. His contract is for five years. -Jonathan Alexander, The Charlotte Observer. Read More.
