The Oakland men’s basketball team lost on Friday at Valparaiso, 86-84, finishing just short of a epic win. But the loss was more than on the court. Oakland athletic director Jeff Konya and operations director Sarah Judd crossed a sportsmanship line while arguing calls from the stands and were suspended one game by the Horizon League for “violating the Horizon League’s sportsmanship policy.” Konya released a statement. “At the Valparaiso game on Friday night, I was sitting in the stands and vocally disagreed with some calls during the first half,” he wrote. “I am very passionate about this basketball program as well as this university and those comments were a result of the heat of the moment. I will take this as a learning opportunity and move forward with the Horizon League.” -Mark Snyder, Detroit Free Press, Read More
