UNIVERSITY OF NORTH TEXAS

July 27th, 2016 | by CollegeAD

Sources tell College AD that Wren Baker will be named athletic director at North Texas. Baker, the interim athletic director at Missouri, will take over for Rick Villarreal who stepped down in May. Prior to joining the Missouri staff as deputy director of athletics for external relations in 2015, Baker served in a similar capacity at Memphis for two years. During his tenure at Memphis he helped secure the largest gift in Tiger history and was instrumental in launching a $40 million capital campaign.

Baker is no stranger to running an athletic department, having previously served as athletic director at two institutions. First at Rogers State University from 2006-2011 and then at Northwest Missouri State from 2011-2013. Baker was the first athletic director in Rogers State history.
