Nicholls State University will begin construction on a $6.5 million football facility thanks, in part, to the largest single monetary donation in the institution’s history at $2.52 million from an anonymous outside donor. At Wednesday’s announcement in the Century Club Room of John L. Guidry Stadium, athletic director Matt Roan heralded as “transformative” and “game changing” for the program. Nicholls detailed plans for a 20,000-square-foot facility to be built in the south end zone of John L. Guidry Stadium over the next year. While an official date has not been set to break ground, the project is expected to begin in the next few weeks with completion by the start of the 2020 football season. The yet-to-be-named building will include, among other features, space for coaches offices, a new locker room and lounge for players and a 142-seat team meeting room, which can also be used for game day seating open to fans. – Mike Gegenheimer, houmatoday – Read More
