Missouri State head volleyball coach Melissa Stokes remains on paid administrative leave, as the university announced on July 16, pending an investigation into allegations involving the program. Specific allegations haven’t been released, and the university said it wouldn’t comment on the situation until findings of the investigation have been completed and reviewed by administration. Stokes’ contract currently runs through June 30, 2023, and she is paid an annual salary of $112,157 while also being eligible for incentives based on team and academic success.  As far as termination goes, Stokes’ contract can be terminated due to the expiration of term, incapacity and just cause.  If her contract were to be terminated for just cause, she would not be entitled to further compensation following the date of her termination unless agreed upon with the university. She would be entitled to all compensation and achievement payments through the date of termination.  Termination of employment for alleged “just cause” won’t occur without giving Stokes notice of the allegations and an opportunity to be heard. – Wyatt D.
