Michigan State’s new offensive coordinator received a bump of more than $115,000 to bring his base salary up to $517,847, according to records provided to the Detroit Free Press by the university. That is a 28.7% raise with the promotion for Brad Salem, whose base salary for 2018 was $402,462. He was the only offensive coach from Mark Dantonio’s 2018 staff to receive a pay increase. Dave Warner ($516,924) and Jim Bollman ($498,462), who previously shared the offensive coordinator title, Mark Staten ($402,462) and Terrence Samuel ($387,693) all maintain the same salaries from last season while taking on new coaching roles for 2019. The coaches for MSU’s defense — which ranked No. 1 nationally against the run and No. 10 overall — all got raises as well. Mike Tressel received a pay increase 16.6%, bringing his salary up to $667,385 for his third season as the Spartans’ defensive coordinator. His three assistants — defensive ends coach Chuck Bullough ($387,693, up 10%), defensive tackles coach Ron Burton ($424,616, up 9.5%) and secondary coach Paul Haynes ($415,385, up 9.8%) — all received salary bumps as well. -Chris Solari, Detroit Free Press, Read More
