Maryville’s athletic director has resigned. The university confirmed to 5 On Your Side on Friday he resigned for ‘personal reasons.’ In a letter sent to faculty and staff, President Lombardi says “Marcus Manning, Vice President for Athletics and Recreation, has resigned from Maryville, effective immediately, for personal reasons and we respect his decision. Marcus has done an outstanding job helping the university establish itself in NCAA Division II Athletics and within the GLVC. Under his leadership, Maryville has won the NCAA President’s Award for student athlete graduation rates for five consecutive years.
