Few administrators and/or CEOs have had as varied and successful a career as Tom McMillen, CEO/President of LEAD1 Association. McMillen’s athletic skills first manifest themselves on the national level as the most highly-recruited high school athlete of his era. He starred at the University of Maryland, was a Rhodes Scholar attending Oxford University, then began an 11-year NBA career. “Some people think these are glamorous jobs, but they’re difficult. It’s a great job, but it’s hard work. You’re managing a very large group of people and the job is very public. Everybody is in your business and most of them think they can do it better.
