James Giacomazzi, a Livermore resident, was most recently the coach of the Cosumnes River Hawks, whom he led to 209 victories over 11 years. He will become the third basketball coach in the Las Positas Hawks’ nine-year history, building on the groundwork set by Lon Rork. At Cosumnes, Giacomazzi led the Hawks to two Big 8 Conference titles, reached the postseason six times and made five appearances in the Sweet 16. In 2014-2015, he was named the conference coach of the year for the second time after notching a 23-8 overall record.He has coached five all-state first-team players.
