On Wednesday, Lamar announced an agreement with Under Armour to become the official outfitter of Cardinal athletics beginning on July 1. It’s a five-year contract, Born told the Enterprise, although he declined to disclose the financial details. Other Southland Conference schools like Stephen F. Austin and McNeese have deals with Under Armour, and Born said Lamar’s is “very much in line and competitive” with those. The transition from Nike will take another year to fully complete. Lamar’s men’s basketball team has a contract with Nike that runs through the 2019-20 season, and the university will honor that, Born said. After that, Under Armour will provide on-field and training gear for all 17 of Lamar’s NCAA Division I programs. -Matt Faye, Beaumont Enterprise, Read More
