The IUPUI Department of Athletics has announced that longtime athletics director Michael Moore is resigning his position, effective Aug. 14, after 19 years of service. Moore navigated IUPUI to the NCAA Division I level and doubled the sport offerings from nine programs to the current day 18 teams. He also played an integral role in the branding change from the Metros to the Jaguars, coinciding with the program’s jump to Division I athletics and entrance into The Summit League in 1998. Moore is credited with making the landmark decision to move IUPUI’s basketball games to Indiana Farmers Coliseum, resulting in the nation’s 30th-largest increase in home attendance during the 2014-15 season.
