The Big 12 Conference has denied Iowa State’s appeal of a $25,000 fine handed down to the school following a field storm. Bob Burda, the Big 12’s assistant commissioner of communications, said in an email to the Register on Friday that the conference’s Board of Directors upheld the fine and “the matter is now closed.” Iowa State was fined and given a public reprimand after fans stormed the field at Jack Trice Stadium following the team’s 30-14 win over No. 6 West Virginia on Saturday. Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby said in a statement announcing the news that Iowa State had a written event management policy that “was not thoroughly implemented and was unsuccessful in ensuring the safety and security of all visiting team game participants.” Iowa State responded to the Big 12 on Monday saying that it had reviewed the incident and determined that event staff had followed all post-game celebration policies approved by the Big 12 on Aug. 31, 2018. – Tommy Birch, desmoinesregister – Read More
