In a vaguely worded press release sent out by Iowa Athletic Director Gary Barta late Monday afternoon, he referenced “inappropriate actions” taken against the Hawkeye Marching Band “while attending” the game. Barta said his counterpart at Iowa State had been “contacted” and are “working to gather additional information.” However, during a press conference held to announce a new Iowa State athletic complex Tuesday, Pollard told assembled reporters that Iowa’s band traveled with one University of Iowa police officer and three Polk County deputies and that none of those officers reported anything or had anything shared to them about the alleged “inappropriate” incidents. Pollard also referred to Barta’s release as “pretty vague,” adding that officials don’t know “what happened, why it happened or how it happened.” Pollard added it also pained him to think the band did not have a positive experience at the game. – Aimee Breaux and Zachary Oren Smith, Iowa City Press-Citizen, Read More
