Milton Overton Jr. has been named Florida A&M’s new athletic director. Overton, 42, was chosen from more than 90 candidates who applied for the position after the resignation of Kellen Winslow and the death of Nelson Townsend. He — and two other top candidates — met with a 10-person fact-finding committee last week on campus. He comes to FAMU after six years at Alabama, where he was the senior associate athletic director. He also spent seven years at Texas A&M. Overton was a four-year starter on the offensive line at Oklahoma, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in sociology in 1995. – Jordan Culver, Tallahassee.
