Riverside City College Athletic Director Derrick Johnson has been named the new Director of Athletics at Elizabeth City State University. The announcement by ECSU, comes over a month removed from the Riverside Community College District’s decision to not renew the contract of Johnson, which expires June 30, 2015. He started at RCC in 2012. Johnson will begin his duties on May 18, 2015, according to the CIAA. The renovation of the Wheelock Gym was also taking place during the tenure of Johnson. –  James H.
