Eastern Michigan women’s basketball coach Tory Verdi has been hired as the women’s coach at Massachusetts, both schools announced today. Verdi led EMU to a 72-62 record in four seasons, improving from 8-22 in 2012-13 to 22-12 this season with a third consecutive postseason tournament appearance. “This was an extremely difficult decision,” Verdi said in a statement released today by EMU. “I was blessed to work with such a great staff and an outstanding group of student-athletes. In addition, I need to thank (athletic director) Heather Lyke, (senior associate AD) Erin Kido and the entire EMU community for their support during my time here. Hard work and dedication were instrumental to changing the culture and expectations and we were able to do some very special things here at EMU.”-Detroit Free Press– Read More
