A corporate foundation has backed off from making the largest cash pledge ever to Eastern Michigan University, Athletic Director Scott Wetherbee said during a radio interview with WEMU on Jan. 9. The Power2Change Foundation announced a $6 million cash pledge to EMU in March 2017, which would go toward the construction of a sports medicine and performance training facility adjacent to Rynearson Stadium. Whether or not EMU receives that funding depends on Wetherbee establishing a relationship with the foundation, he said. The university announced the donation from Power2Change just a few weeks before former EMU AD Heather Lyke announced in March 2017 that she was taking a job with the University of Pittsburgh. –mlive.
