Duquesne University has hired Dayton’s vice president for university advancement as its next athletic director. Dave Harper was formally introduced at the Palumbo Center this morning. Harper takes over from Greg Amodio, who left in early July to accept the same position at Quinnipiac. Prior to assuming his current role in 2012, Harper was Dayton’s associate vice president for athletics, overseeing the school’s successful men’s basketball program, among other things. As the vice president of university advancement, he was tasked with leading fundraising efforts, alumni outreach and strategies for growth. Harper has connections to the Pittsburgh area, including his son, Trey, who is a freshman defensive end on the Robert Morris University football team.
