Examining The Role Insurance Plays In College Athletics

Insurance is a must in today’s world of collegiate athletics not only institutions and athletic departments but also student-athletes as well. In this weeks episode of The Culture of Sports host, Jonathan Yates takes a look at how the practice of carrying insurance is impacting college atheltics. Yates is joined by John Schryber a Partner with Reed Smith LLP. Together the two go inside the world of insurance policies examing the different policies for both athletic departments and policies that studnet-atheltes may carry on themseleves.

Jonathan Yates spent much of his career working for Members of Congress in a variety of press and legislative posts. Positions he has held working for Members of Congress and state legislators include Chief of Staff, General Counsel, Legislative Director, Press Secretary, and Legislative Assistant. His journalistic work has appeared in such periodicals as The Washington Post, Foreign Policy, Investor's Business Daily, and TheStreet, among others. He has degrees from Harvard, Johns Hopkins, and Georgetown University Law Center; and has also matriculated at the U.S. Naval War College and The Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS).
